SMT Sejingkat’s PTA receives RM10,000 to fund activities

KUCHING: Sekolah Menengah Teknik Sejingkat’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) will receive RM10,000 in activity funding from Santubong Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.

Nancy, who is also Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, announced the allocation when officiating the school’s 2026 Outstanding Students Appreciation Ceremony.

“I am delighted to announce an allocation of RM10,000 for the school’s PTA activity fund,” she said in her speech at the ceremony at the school today.

Nancy said education was a priority under one of the six development pillars for the Santubong parliamentary constituency, which focuses on capacity building and human capital development.

She also urged students to view Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) education as a viable career pathway, given the demand for skilled workers in the country.

“Technical and TVET pathways are by no means a second-choice option. On the contrary, technical and vocational skills represent a vital pathway for developing the skilled workforce our nation requires,” she added.

Nancy said technical and vocational fields could produce engineers, technologists, inventors, entrepreneurs and innovators who contribute to the country’s industrial and economic development.

“Education is not merely about achieving good examination results. Education opens up employment opportunities, increases earning potential, and helps families build a better life,” she said.

She also called for continued cooperation between elected representatives, schools, parents and the community to provide students with sufficient access and opportunities to develop their potential, while encouraging students to remain confident in their chosen fields and pursue higher ambitions.
