SIBU: The Sibu Civil Defence Force (APM) has been busy lately when several snakes decided to ngabang (visit) some homes here as the Gawai celebration almost comes to an end.

New Sarawak Tribune came across several posts by Sibu APM on its Facebook page yesterday (June 12) regarding their fast response to emergency calls to tackle snakes.

On June 11, the agency captured an 8-foot-long cobra after receiving a distress call from a homeowner at Jalan RTM around 6.35 pm.

The 12 kg cobra was seen hiding under the kitchen cabinet in the photo posted by APM Sibu.

Then on June 12, it received a distress call at 11.52 am from a homeowner at Lorong 4A, Jalan Kenari.

“A 20-foot-long python weighing 50kg was found in the homeowner’s drain and was captured. The situation at the location is under control,” APM said.

Later in the afternoon, around 2.40 pm, the agency received another distress call from a shopowner on Jalan Brook Drive, reporting an 8-foot cobra weighing about 5 kg in his premises.

“An 8-foot-long cobra weighing 5kg was found behind the complainant’s shop and successfully captured. The situation at the location is under control,” APM added in its post.

For any emergencies, contact APM Sibu at 999 or the APM Sibu hotline at 084-220044 (24 hours).
