KUCHING (Aug 20): A joint patrol by Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel managed to stop an attempt to smuggle frozen meat and over 1,000 packets of sausages worth RM8,968 near the Tebedu border yesterday.
The First Infantry Division said the patrolling team found several black plastic bags at an illegal route 100 metres away from the Malaysia-Indonesia border at around 1pm.
“The plastic bags contained six boxes of meat and 1,600 packets of chicken sausages. No prohibited and dangerous items were found around the area,” the First Infantry Division said in a statement today.
“A police report was later lodged at the Tebedu Police Station with all the confiscated items submitted to the Tebedu Customs for further action.”
ATM pledged to strengthen border controls to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty against illegal immigration, smuggling, and other cross-border crimes.
