Special aid for RM500 flight tickets for new IPTA students - PM Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR, 17 Sept: Government announces a one-off or one-time domestic Flight Ticket Purchase Special Assistance worth RM500 to each new student of the Institution of Public Higher Education (IPTA) eligible for September or October admission session.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the initiative would benefit 7,095 students who will have to use domestic flights between Peninsula, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan to start their respective studies.

"Public universities, polytechnics, community colleges for the September and October admissions sessions this year. This will benefit 7,095 students who have to use domestic flights between Peninsula, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan Federal Territories to start their studies", he said.

The announcement was made by Anwar while addressing the nationwide Malaysia Day 2026 summit at Borneo Kuching Convention Centre (BCCK) tonight.

The guest of honour at the ceremony is the Sarawak State Elder Tun Dr Wan Junaidi My Lord Jaafar.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Chief Minister Sabah Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor were also present.

The Prime Minister said the initiative was part of the Federal Government's commitment to alleviate the burden on the people, along with announcing an improvement in BUDI MADANI Diesel's charter and restructuring of special grant rights for the state. -TVS
