STB, Scoot, STATOS sign agreement to increase Singapore-Sarawak flights, position Sarawak as ‘bleisure’ destination

SINGAPORE, Oct 22: Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) has signed a Tripartite Campaign Agreement with Scoot airline and Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office in Singapore (STATOS) to promote the State’s diverse offerings and further enhancing its visibility across the global tourism landscape.

In a statement today, STB said the strategic partnership aims to strengthen inbound travel from Singapore into Sarawak with 14 weekly flights operated by Scoot, an increase from 10 weekly flights in 2022.

During the signing ceremony which took place at the Sarawak Bleisure Networking Session held in Singapore recently, Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah reportedly said that Sarawak and Singapore share a long-standing relationship, one built on mutual respect, cultural exchanges and economic collaboration.

“This partnership is about harnessing Singapore’s global influence and its role as a crossroads for international travel and business, allowing us to amplify Sarawak’s unique offerings to the world.

“Through meaningful partnerships like these, we strengthen our position as one of the rising destinations in Southeast Asia. And through this partnership, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainability, responsible tourism and stronger regional ties,” he said.

Meanwhile, STB chief executive officer Sharzede Datu Salleh Askor expressed her optimism about the partnership, stating that the tripartite agreement reflects the shared vision of enhancing Sarawak’s accessibility while providing travellers with seamless opportunities to experience Sarawak’s diverse culture and adventure offerings.

At the same time, she added that STB was proud to have hosted the Sarawak Bleisure Networking Session in collaboration with Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) and STATOS.

The event brought together travel professionals, tour operators, media representatives, and potential business partners to explore Sarawak’s growing appeal as a destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE).

Attendees were introduced to the extensive support services offered by BESarawak and STATOS, further boosting Sarawak’s reputation on the international stage.

Representatives from Paradesa Borneo, CPH Travel Services, Mutama Holidays, Journey Travel Agencies, Borsarmulu Park Management, Brighton Travel and Tour, Pullman Hotels, and others showcased Sarawak’s diverse tourism products.

These offerings ranged from eco-tourism and cultural immersion to exciting adventure tours, presenting Sarawak as an ideal destination for travellers seeking both work and play. — DayakDaily
