KUCHING, Apr 28: Sarawak Metro has issued a stop-work order at its site at Jalan Tun Jugah here following a recent incident where welding debris was seen falling onto the road.

In a statement, Sarawak Metro said the incident was caused by one of its contractors for the Kuching Urban Transformation System (KUTS) project.

It also confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident.

“To ensure the safety of all road users and construction workers, we immediately issued a stop-work order at the site, and we are working closely with the relevant agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and ensure that the contractor improves safety measures at the construction site.

“We would like to thank members of the public for their assistance in providing information.”
