A 2.5-metre-long crocodile found at a construction site near Kampung Lopeng Tengah.

MIRI (March 30): The Miri Civil Defence Force (APM Miri) was deployed to a construction site near Kampung Lopeng Tengah here on Monday morning following a report of crocodile sighting.

APM Miri Officer Captain (PA) Bonnie Madisun said a distress call was received at about 9.53am, prompting a four-member team to be dispatched to the location, approximately 14km away.

The team, led by Corporal Mariani Eddy, was directed by the complainant to the exact location of the reptile.

“Upon inspection, the team found a 2.5-metre-long crocodile inside a workers’ quarters and successfully captured it,” he said.

The operation was completed safely at 11.06am.

Bonnie added that the reptile will be handed over to Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) for further action.
