BINTULU (Dec 8): Retiring educators are ‘education heroes’ whose lifelong dedication has shaped generations of Malaysians and strengthened the nation’s future, said Sarawak Teachers’ Union (STU) deputy president Yong Sie Hing.

In paying tribute to them, he said the union holds deep gratitude for the contributions made by teachers throughout their service.

“You are the architects who have shaped the nation’s future through education.

“Your guidance, advice, and sacrifices have nurtured generation after generation of knowledgeable, ethical, and competitive individuals,” he said in his speech at the STU Bintulu Division Teachers’ Retirement and Appreciation ceremony on Saturday.

He said veteran educators also served as exemplary role models for younger teachers entering the profession, and their work discipline, dedication and fighting spirit continues to inspire new educators.

Yong also said that retiring does not mark an end, but rather the beginning of a new and meaningful phase of life.

“It is now time to enjoy your retirement years with fulfilling activities, whether by pursuing long-postponed hobbies, engaging in community service, or spending more meaningful time with loved ones,” he said.

He also wished all retirees good health, and encouraged them to remain active both physically and mentally.
