Student in Bau busted with massive adult, child porn stash on mobile phone

BAU (April 8): Police here arrested a 19-year-old student after he was found with a total of 936 obscene videos and 4,035 pornographic images on his mobile phone.

Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the suspect was detained at Kampung Seromah around 6.10pm during an Op Cyber Guardian raid by D11 personnel from the Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department.

“The raid was carried out based on intelligence gathered. The suspect is believed to have accessed websites containing adult and child pornography, as well as conducting sales of such materials via Telegram and promoting them on social media platforms,” he said in a statement.

He added the suspect admitted to selling the materials as a source of income.

Among the items seized from the student were three mobile phones, a laptop, and SIM cards.

Mohd Haide said the suspect has been remanded for seven days until April 15 to facilitate further investigation.

“The case is being investigated under Section 8 and Section 10 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act, as well as Section 292 of the Penal Code,” he said.

He emphasised that the police will not compromise on any activities involving sexual exploitation, especially those involving children, warning that strict action will be taken against those involved.
