KUCHING, Aug 21: Sarawak is set to face Selangor for gold in the men’s futsal event final at the 21st Malaysian Games (Sukma).

The match is scheduled to take place at Kota Samarahan Indoor Stadium this Friday (Aug 23), at 3pm.

The State team secured their ticket to the final with style after defeating Perak with a score of 7-3 in the semi-finals today.

Sarawak surged ahead 2-0 through Asyraf Zakaris who scored in the first two minutes.

Perak narrowed the gap through Hadi Azhan a few seconds later, bringing the score to 2-1.

Sarawak managed to add another goal through Nazir Mahdini in the 9th minute but Perak responded with two more goals through Amirul Hamdan (11th minute) and Matias Danisan (12th minute), bringing the score to a tie at the end of the first half.

Nevertheless, the second half saw Sarawak scoring four more goals through Asyraf Zakaris (21st minute), Zainulariffin Zain (28th minute), Shahmi Suhardi (38th minute) and Nazwan Haykal (39th minute), ensuring the team’s victory.

Meanwhile, Selangor defeated Penang today to secure their spot in the final. — DayakDaily
