SERIAN: The rehearsal for the medal presentation ceremony of the Artistic Gymnastics event at the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA XXI) Sarawak 2024 was successfully conducted at the Serian Convention Centre yesterday (Aug 9).
The venue will host the gymnastics competitions from August 21 to 24, 2024, as part of the larger SUKMA event, which takes place from August 17 to 24.
Attending the rehearsal were Serian District Council Secretary who is also the Venue Manager for the SUKMA events in the Serian division Tay Guan Huat, Competition Manager from the Sarawak Amateur Gymnastics Association (SAGYMA) Jacqueline George Paou, and Samarahan Youth and Sports Officer Abu Zaid Abu Bakar.
SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024 is set to be a significant event, featuring 15 contingents competing in a total of 488 events across 37 sports, making it the largest edition of SUKMA since its inception in 1986.
The games will see participation from over 12,000 athletes and officials, with events including compulsory sports such as aquatics, badminton, cycling, and of course, gymnastics.
The Artistic Gymnastics competition will be one of the highlights, drawing attention not only for its athleticism but also for the excitement it brings to the local community.
As such, the Serian Convention Centre has been prepared thoroughly to ensure a seamless experience for both participants and spectators.
