KUCHING (Aug 20): Kelly Teo Yao secured her third gold medal at the Sukma XXI swimming events, triumphing in the 200m backstroke event with a time of 2:21.79.
Teo’s victory further cements her status as one of the standout swimmers of this year’s competition.
Adding to Sarawak’s achievements, fellow Sarawakian swimmer Shanise Jauwa Joseline Adong earned a bronze medal in the same event, clocking in at 2:28.97.
Silver went to Vivian Xin Ling Tee, who finished with a time of 2:25.72.
In another event, Sarawak’s Chereen Ngo captured her second bronze of the competition in the 200m Individual Medley, finishing with a time of 2:26.57.
Ngo’s consistent performances have added valuable points to Sarawak’s overall standing in the swimming events.
Teo is set to compete in the 800m Freestyle on the third day of the competition tomorrow (Wednesday), where she is seen as a strong contender for another medal.
All eyes will be on her as she aims to extend her impressive medal haul.
