MIRI (Aug 21): The technical committee of the Malaysian Games (Sukma) Sarawak Pencak Silat has identified the individuals who threw a plastic bottle and cup into the arena and technical area during the Pencak Silat event around 4.46pm this afternoon.

The committee’s Head of Technical Delegate Kamarul Ariffin said actions would be taken against these individuals in accordance to the international silat tournament rules and regulations

“All the team managers have agreed that action be taken on those who committed the offence. So, we have identified them and we will take action according to international silat tournament rules and regulations, which is giving them the first warning.

“If it occurs again, a second warning and the individuals will be asked to leave the stadium until the end of the tournament.

“I don’t have to mention who they are but we have identified the individuals,” he told the media at the press conference following the ruckus earlier.

As for the Girls U45 quarter final match between Sarawak and Federal Territories which was interrupted during the incident, the 14 seconds left in the game would not be continued and the final score at that time would be used, where the winner was Federal Territories.

“We have made several decisions in a meeting with the security team as well as team managers tonight.

“For this evening’s incident, we have decided to stop the tournament as the server used for the scoring system is experiencing some problem. We are currently fixing it and hopefully would be fixed by the end of tonight.

“We have decided to postpone all the matches for this evening to tomorrow from 8.30am.

He said to prevent reoccurance, the committee have also decided that no spectators would be allowed for the remaining matches in the Miri Indoor Stadium until the end of the tournament on August 23.

“This applies to all teams and all states. Only those with valid entry passes such as the officials, volunteers and the media are allowed to enter by the police on duty,” he said.
