KUCHING (Aug 21): Sarawakian diver Nurul Farisya Alia Affendi made a splash at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) XXI today, winning her first individual gold medal in the women’s 10m platform event with a score of 241.90.
In a closely contested final, Nurul Farisya edged out Federal Territories’ Lee Yiat Qing, who secured the silver medal with a score of 241.10.
Meanwhile, another Sarawakian talent, Nur Eilisha Rania Muhammad Abrar Raj, claimed the bronze with a score of 231.45.
“I didn’t expect to win gold, so this is a very happy moment for me and my family,” Nurul Farisya said, beaming with pride.
“I dedicate this gold to myself as a reward for all the hard work and perseverance,” she added.
Looking ahead, Nurul Farisya has her sights set on another gold medal in the mixed synchronised event on Friday, where she will partner with fellow Sarawakian diver Muhammad Lutfir Rahman.
“Our goal is to win gold,” she said, adding that she is excited to compete alongside Muhammad Lutfir.
