SIBU (Oct 7): The water board here is in the process of implementing three projects in Sibu Jaya to improve water pressure and ensure reliable service to the growing community there.
Sibu Water Board (SWB) said the projects, costing RM4.9 million in total, involve pipeline upgrading, pipe laying, and upgrading of pumps and ancillary works.
“Pipeline upgrading at Sibu Jaya Flat is essential to increase the capacity and efficiency of water flow to the area. The project is on track to be completed by Aug 25, 2025,” it said in a Facebook post.
For the pipe-laying project, it said a new 315mm HDPE pipeline is being installed, connecting to the Sibu Jaya Booster Station 1.
Expected to be completed by Dec 2 next year, SWB said this project would further strengthen the overall water supply infrastructure.
In addition to pipeline improvements, the Board said works to upgrade the pumps and ancillary systems at Booster Station 1 are set to enhance overall water distribution efficiency.
These upgrades are set to be completed by April 2025.
“The total cost of these projects amounts to RM4,937,848, reflecting a substantial investment in the long-term improvement of Sibu Jaya’s water infrastructure,” it said.
SWB highlighted that upon completion of these works, along with Phase 2 pipeline installations in Kanowit, the water pressure in Sibu Jaya will see a noticeable improvement, especially for residents on the higher floors of Sibu Jaya Flat.
This will ensure better water supply and service quality for the entire community, it added.
“These initiatives underscore our commitment to addressing the needs of the residents and ensuring that our infrastructure keeps pace with the growing demands of the Sibu Jaya area.
“We look forward to the successful completion of these projects and the benefits they will bring to the local community.”
