KUCHING : The State Library (Pustaka) will host a Sarawakiana lecture series on ‘Bidayuh Ethnic Culture and Heritage’ this Thursday (Nov 16).
The lecture to be held from 9am until 11am at the Roxy Hotel in Serian will be given by Dr.Charlie Ungang, who heads Bidayuh ethnic research at the Sarawak Customs Council.
“The objective of this talk is to discuss Bidayuh ethnic customs and culture including its origin and settlement, identity, and Bidayuh ethnic customary law.
“This discussion will be on the origin and settlement and identity of the Bidayuh which includes sub-ethnic categories found in Lundu district, Bau district, Kota Padawan-Siburan district and Serian district where there are 29 Bidayuh ethnic language dialects related to the original settlement,” it said in a statement.
In addition, the talk will also discuss Bidayuh customary legislation such as on settlement, land ownership, family and more.
