TAWAU (Feb 11): The Sabah Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment is committed to developing Tawau Hills Park here into a sustainable green community destination that is visitor-friendly and attractive, in line with Malaysia’s nature-based tourism agenda.
The development will focus on upgrading infrastructure to enhance visitor comfort, safety, and overall experience.
“This includes improvements to family rest and recreational areas, as well as more informative and interactive environmental interpretation elements,” said minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin.
He added that these enhancements aim to position Tawau Hills Park as a comfortable, safe, and inclusive recreational space, attracting both domestic and international visitors.
“At the same time, the development is expected to generate positive economic spillovers for the local community through entrepreneurial opportunities, employment creation, and the promotion of Tawau as a progressive green tourism destination,” Jafry said.
The minister emphasised that all initiatives will be implemented responsibly, guided by sustainability principles, to deliver high impact to the community without compromising the environment.
