Lau emphasises that only by fostering team spirit can they gain the public’s trust and drive Sibu’s development and economic prosperity.

SIBU (Feb 28): Unity is the key strength for both political parties and the Chinese community, said Councillor Kevin Lau.

The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan chairman emphasised that only by fostering team spirit can they gain the public’s trust and drive Sibu’s development and economic prosperity.

“The team must uphold unity, consolidate the strength of the Chinese community, and use it as a foundation to gain society’s trust while working hand in hand to promote Sibu’s growth,” he said during the SUPP Chinese New Year celebration at Kingwood Hotel here yesterday.

Lau, also SUPP Central Youth chairman, expressed appreciation to the SUPP president, Deputy Premier Dr Sim Kui Hian, for attending the festive gathering.

He also thanked branch chairmen, party members, and members of the youth and women’s wings for their support in ensuring the event’s success.

“The success of this celebration reflects the unity and collective strength of the entire team,” he added, noting that the gathering, reminiscent of a family reunion, reinforced the team’s cohesion.

Lau recalled growing up in Sibu and acknowledged the contributions of earlier generations, community leaders, educators, and pioneers in culture, business, and education.

“The younger generation must cherish these achievements, inherit the spirit of selfless dedication, and contribute sincerely to ensure Sibu’s continued progress,” he said.
