The abandoned prayer hall burned down at Pending Height

KUCHING, Oct. 4: A derelict prayer room in the basement of a three-story department store building at Pending Height, here, caught fire this afternoon.

According to the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sarawak's Operations Movement Centre (PGO), it received a call about the incident at 12.34 pm before the team arrived on site 10 minutes later.

"The Operations Output Team (PKO) from the Bombing and Rescue Hall (BBP) in Padungan found that about 20 percent of the rooms were involved in the fire.

"The blackout operation was carried out using a 100-foot hose flow with one nozzle, using water supply from the pump", according to the statement today.

The fire was completely extinguished by 12:55 p.m.

No casualties were reported involved in the incident.

The operation was fully terminated at 1:07 p.m. after the team secured a safe location and no further fire hazards.

Eight members of BBP Padungan were involved in the operation with the help of an FRT machine and an EMRS-TVS.
