The fire at Long Atip Solar Station was extinguished by SEB workers.

MARUDI, 15 September: A fire involving a building of the Hybrid Solar Station in Long Atip here this morning was completely extinguished by Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) workers.

The incident was reported to the Marudi Bombing and Rescue Centre (BBP) at about 8.50 am, before the bombers contacted the Long Bedian Volunteer Bomber Force (PBS) and PBS Long Bemang for initial action.

According to the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sarawak's Operations Movement Centre (PGO), the fire is believed to have occurred in the battery room and inverter section which houses about 480 units of batteries.

"SEB workers are acting quickly using nine ABC type fire extinguishers and five CO2 fire extinguishers to control and extinguish fires.

"PBS Long Bedian, which arrived at the scene around 11 am found that the fire had been completely extinguished by SEB employees", the statement said.

The PBS team then carried out monitoring to ensure that there were no more sources of fire or coal that could trigger the fire again.

Four members of PBS Bedian and a four-wheeled Triton race car were driven to the scene, while four SEB employees were also at the scene.
