MIRI, Oct. 4: A 19-year-old man faced a moment of anxiety when his hands were stuck in the fryer at a restaurant in Luak here this morning.
According to the Operational Movement Centre (PGO) of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sarawak, a team from Miri Bomb and Rescue Hall (BBP) arrived at Sugarbun Luak at 9.33 am after receiving an emergency call at 9.22 am.
"On arrival at the scene, firefighters found the victim's hands trapped inside a frying machine.
"Members then used Holmatro's special equipment to stretch the iron parts on a machine that was squeezed into the victim's hands", according to the statement.
The attempt was successful in removing the victim's hands without causing serious injury.
The rescue operation was controlled at 9:45 a.m. and fully terminated at 9:57 a.m. after the situation on site was confirmed to be safe.
The bomb squad then rushed back to the hall after making sure there were no other dangers on site.
