LIMBANG, 15 Sept: New Balanced Town area identified as the location of implementation of construction project Integrated Health Complex (IKC) Balanced Hospital which is among priority health projects in northern Sarawak.

Deputy Minister of Transport, Datuk Hasbi Habibollah said the project was highly anticipated by Limbang and surrounding areas to improve access to better health services.

According to him, Deputy Health Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib also reviewed some proposed locations for the construction of the complex.

"Deputy Minister of Health Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib also visited the project for hospital construction in Limbang, KKB. There are two sites in the New Balanced City area.

"In addition, we also went to Medamit to see the clinic site which had already been approved during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's visit to Limbang at the launch of SSLR2 earlier", he said.

He said this when he was met by the media after accompanying Hanifah on a visit to Nanga Medamit Health Clinic, Limbang as part of Borneo's Health Expedition Programme, today.

Hasbi who is also the Member of Parliament for Balance said that the development plan for construction of the new Nanga Medamit Health Clinic was framed including preliminary work, site review, design and compensation related affairs.

According to him, the government also paid attention to some issues and challenges faced by the clinic's residents especially regarding lack of facilities, unstable water supply as well as shortage of medical equipment and equipment.

"A rather narrow entrance to the clinic will be extended and efforts are underway to bring water tanks into the area", he said.

Meanwhile, Hasbi said that the construction of Long Napir Health Clinic is also essential to meet the needs of rural residents who are now becoming more accessible through road network especially following the construction of Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR).

He said the improvement and expansion of health facilities in northern Sarawak is essential to ensure that people including rural communities have access to better and comfortable health services.
