Three hikers safe after reported missing in Bau

KUCHING (April 25): Three hikers who were reported missing while trekking at Donu Peninjau in Kampung Peninjau Lama, Bau, this afternoon managed to exit the area safely.

Although the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a distress call at 5.38pm regarding their missing whereabouts, no rescue operation was carried out as they have made their way out safely, with two of them assisted by nearby villagers.

Bomba said one of the hikers descended via the entry point of the hiking trail, while the two others exited through Serembu Eco Park with the help of villagers at about 6.20pm.

The operation was officially terminated at 6.32pm.
