KUCHING (Aug 11): Three projects under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) and Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) initiatives in Kampung Mongkos, Tebedu, Serian have been successfully completed, said Datuk Martin Ben.

The Kedup assemblyman, in a symbolic ceremony held in Tebedu, Serian on Saturday, said these projects involved the construction of a new People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) Operation Centre, a futsal court as well as an activity centre for the Kampung Mongkos Women’s Bureau.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the construction project for the Rela Operation Centre had cost RM45,000 using MRP funds whereas the activity centre in Kampung Mongkos was built last year with an expenditure of RM50,000.

The sheltered futsal court project, which was funded under the RTP, had initially cost RM150,000 in 2017 but was later allocated an additional fund of RM100,000 in 2021 for upgrading purposes.

“I would like to extend my appreciation to all parties involved for their strong commitment in completing these projects without any delay,” said Martin, who is also Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development.

Among those present were Serian deputy resident Khalid Abdul Manap, Tebedu district officer Gerard George Entigar, and Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Serian Division engineer Batholomeow Emily Ayu.
