KUCHING, Dec 16: Thunderstorms, accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds, are anticipated in 10 districts across Sarawak until 7pm today.

In an advisory today, Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) identified the affected districts as Sarikei, Sibu, Kapit, Song, Bintulu, Tatau, Miri, Beluru, Marudi, and Limbang.

The department emphasised that a thunderstorm warning is issued when there are indications of a thunderstorm with a rainfall intensity surpassing 20 mm/hour, either currently happening or expected to persist for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term alert valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release. — DayakDaily
