Thunderstorms, heavy rain expected in parts of Sarawak until 7pm (May 3)

KUCHING, May 3: Several areas in Sarawak have been issued thunderstorm warnings valid until 7pm tonight.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia), the affected areas are Sri Aman, Betong (Pusa, Betong, and Saratok), Sarikei (Sarikei and Meradong), Mukah, Bintulu (Tatau), Miri (Miri and Marudi), and Limbang.

“This warning is issued when there are indications of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour that are imminent or expected to persist for more than one hour.

“Thunderstorm warnings are short-term alerts, valid for no more than six hours for each issuance,” said the department. — DayakDaily
