Construction of the new MRI and mammogram facilities at Bintulu Hospital began on March 2, 2026, and is scheduled for completion by March 10, 2027.
BINTULU (March 12): Visitors and patients at Bintulu Hospital are advised to expect traffic and operational disruptions following the start of construction for new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and mammogram facilities.
The hospital management in a statement said the project is located near the Emergency and Trauma Department.
“The project is expected to take one year to complete, having commenced on March 2, 2026, with a tentative completion date of March 10, 2027,” the statement read.
During the construction period, the public and hospital staff may experience several environmental and logistical challenges.
These include increased noise levels, particularly around the Triage area, as well as dust near the passenger drop-off zones.
On logistics, the management said security personnel will be stationed to manage traffic flow during peak hours.
“However, unexpected traffic may occur during the movement of heavy machinery, such as cement trucks or bulldozers, entering or exiting the project site,” it added.
The hospital management appealed for public understanding and patience as the hospital undergoes these essential upgrades.
“This project is part of our commitment to developing better healthcare facilities for the future. Any inconvenience caused to the public is deeply regretted,” it said.
