KUCHING, May 11: The issuance of the Occupation Permit (OP) for Blocks A and B of the Treetops Apartments Project—developed by Twin Revenue Sdn Bhd—is targeted for the third quarter of 2026.

In a statement, Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, said that the date is subject to there being no unforeseen circumstances.

However, in the event of delays arising from approvals, technical processes, or other external requirements beyond the developer’s control, the timeline for the issuance of the OP may extend to the fourth quarter of 2026.

At the same time, he said that the ministry notes the progress made in resolving issues relating to the 33kV substation infrastructure requirement for the project.

“In particular, the approval granted by Sarawak Energy Berhad for the Project to tap off from the Jepak Substation represents a significant step towards facilitating completion of the Project.

“The ministry appreciates the cooperation extended by all relevant authorities and stakeholders in working towards practical solutions to support the timely completion of the project,” he said.

Tiang added that as an interim regulatory measure to protect prospective homebuyers, the ministry said it will refrain from issuing new developer’s licences to several companies pending satisfactory progress of the project and compliance with regulatory requirements.

“The government of Sarawak remains committed to ensuring that housing projects are implemented and completed in an orderly and responsible manner, while protecting the interests of homebuyers,” he said.

He added that the ministry’s actions are undertaken pursuant to the provisions of the Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Ordinance 2013 and the Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Regulations 2014, which regulate the licensing of housing developers, the issuance of advertisement and sales permits, and the protection of purchasers.

In particular, the requirement for developers to obtain valid licences and advertisement and sales permits, and the discretion of the relevant authority to impose conditions or take regulatory action, are exercised to ensure that housing developments are carried out in a manner that safeguards the interests of purchasers and the public.

On May 8, 2026, the ministry chaired a coordination meeting led by Tiang involving the developer and relevant agencies to review the current status of the project and to address outstanding technical and infrastructure matters affecting its completion. — DayakDaily
