KUCHING (Sept 20): Three men pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to a charge of robbing two Indonesian women while armed with a machete at a Jalan Matang café on Sept 8.

Muhammad Harry Moses Bodus, 36; Erwin Reynolds Majol, 29; and Yazid Syukry Masri, 36; entered their pleas before Judge Iris Awen Jon when the charge under Section 395 of the Penal Code, along with Section 397 of the same Code, was read to them.

The Section provides for up to 20 years in prison as well as caning upon conviction.

The three men, together with another male accomplice still at large, are accused of committing gang robbery at 5.16am at a cafe in Matang.

During the incident, the men allegedly stole RM750, two mobile phones, and several identification documents belonging to the victims.

Deputy public prosecutor Ruvinasini Pandian did not offer any bail as the offence is not bailable.

Iris then ordered for all three defendants to be further remanded and scheduled case management for Oct 10.

She also advised the defendants to seek legal counsel.

The case is being investigated by Insp Mohammad Fadini Noni.
