Tunku Azizah performs the gimmick to launch the exhibition, as Abdul Karim and others look on.
KUCHING (Dec 7): Tengku Ampuan of Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah officiated the Traditional Textile Exhibition at the Borneo Cultures Museum here on Sunday.
She arrived at 2pm and was received by Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and his wife Datin Sri Zuraini Abdul Jabbar.
Tunku Azizah was accompanied by her daughter Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Jihan Azizah ‘Athiyatullah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
She visited the collection of weaving works, embroidery techniques, and contemporary interpretations presented by national and regional heritage custodians at the exhibition.
Also present were Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) chief executive officer Dato Syeed Mohd Hussein Wan Abdul Rahman and Old Kuching Smart Heritage advisor Datu Dr Sabariah Putit.
The exhibition, which runs until March 3, 2026, was organised in conjunction with the Borneo International Textile Festival (BITF) 2025.
The exhibition showcased the diversity of textiles from the Borneo region and Malaysia, brought together through nine key institutions including Yayasan Tenun Pahang Diraja, Persatuan Perintis Inovasi Songket dan Keringkam, and the Tun Jugah Foundation.
