BINTULU, March 21: Two 13-year-old boys are feared to have drowned at a waterfall in Sungai Plan Lot, Kidurong, this afternoon, prompting an urgent search-and-rescue operation.
The incident was reported at about 3.22pm, with firefighters from Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Kidurong and its Water Rescue Unit (PPDA) rushed to the scene.
According to initial information from operation commander PB Zackcaus Naning, the two victims were part of a group of four who had gone to bathe at the waterfall earlier in the day.
They were reportedly swimming at the area around 2pm. The two victims were last seen at approximately 2.30pm before they were believed to have drowned.
The other two of the group, including a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, were unharmed.
Rescuers are currently conducting a surface water search at the location to locate the missing boys.
As of press time, both victims have yet to be found, and operations are ongoing. — DayakDaily
