KUCHING, Dec 30: Two cases of rabies involving unvaccinated stray dogs have been reported in Batu Kawa in Kuching and Bintulu this week.

Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng has urged the community to remain vigilant and exercise extra caution due to the persistent presence of rabies in the surrounding areas.

“Since last week, we have initiated the distribution of informational posters to the public to enhance their understanding of the rabies situation in Sarawak, particularly in Kuching.

“It is crucial for owners of pet animals that have not yet been vaccinated to do so promptly,” he emphasised during his ShallWeeTalk online session today.

Furthermore, Wee also took the opportunity to distribute Chinese New Year goodies, including dragon plush toys, Chinese character ‘fu’ wall decorations, couplets, and angpow packets to viewers during the show, as the upcoming year, 2024, is the Year of the Dragon. — DayakDaily
