KUCHING (Dec 20): The appointment of two Sarawak MPs as deputy ministers in the latest Cabinet reshuffle is a positive step to strengthen the state’s federal representation, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

He said the Cabinet reshuffle announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reflects the Madani Government’s effort to build a stronger, more balanced and capable administration for the people and nation.

“…despite differing state-level political backgrounds, we remain united within the federal framework as part of the Madani Government. Differences should not hinder efforts for the national interest,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Nanta said more Sarawak deputy ministers would boost understanding of the state’s needs and support balanced, comprehensive national policymaking.

The Kapit MP stressed that deputy ministers serve all Malaysians, not just Sarawak, in line with the federal administration’s national and inclusive principles.

He said Mas Gading MP Mordi Bimol, as Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, should be given the chance to prove his ability to develop the youth and national sports ecosystem.

“Similarly, Miri MP Chiew Choon Man, as Deputy Minister (Tourism, Arts and Culture), should be trusted to carry out his duties with professionalism and integrity,” he added.

On Tuesday, Anwar announced a Madani Cabinet reshuffle of 28 ministers and deputies, including portfolio changes and new appointments. – Bernama
