KUCHING, Apr 22: Two 15-year-old boys were killed after a car travelling from Miri towards Bintulu rammed into the rear of their motorcycle in a crash along Jalan Pan Borneo near the Alam Bumi junction in Suai at about 7.45pm on April 19.

Miri District Police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the motorcycle was ridden by a local teenager with another 15-year-old as pillion, while the car was driven by a 32-year-old local man.

Initial investigations found the car is believed to have struck the back of the motorcycle, causing both teenagers to suffer serious injuries.

“Both victims were taken to Miri Hospital for treatment, where the rider was pronounced dead at 2.30pm on April 20 and the pillion rider died at 5.44pm the same day at the hospital’s emergency unit.

“The driver of the car did not sustain any injuries and has been detained under Section 112 of the Road Transport Act 1987 to assist investigations into an alleged offence under Section 41(1) of the same Act,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
