Two youths arrested during Op Samseng Jalanan in Kuching

KUCHING (March 30): Police arrested two motorcyclists during Op Samseng Jalanan here.

The youths, aged 16 and 20, were arrested during the operation held between 3.30pm on Sunday and 2.30am on Monday.

Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said their motorcycles were also confiscated for violations under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

“During the operation, a total of 118 individuals and 108 vehicles were inspected.

“A total of 65 motorcycles were impounded under Section 60 of the Act and 350 PDRM (K) 257 summonses were also issued for various traffic violations,” he said in a statement.

The operation involved three senior police officers along with 32 personnel from the Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department as well as the Kuching Traffic Investigation and Enforcement.

Alexson said the operation aimed to crack down on road bullies to ensure compliance with traffic laws.
