KUCHING, June 16: An unconscious 74-year-old man was rescued from a house fire at Lorong Stutong Baru 14B, Taman Centurion 1, here this evening.

In a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 7.05pm, and firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya station were deployed with assistance from the Batu Lintang station.

Firefighters found a two-storey permanent-structure house, measuring approximately 20 by 40 square feet, on fire. The blaze had affected about 40 per cent of the second floor.

It was reported that the victim was trapped inside the house during the incident. Rescuers located the victim and brought him to safety. However, he was found unconscious.

The emergency medical rescue services (EMRS) personnel conducted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while waiting for the arrival of the medical team from the Ministry of Health (MOH).

Upon the arrival of the MOH team, the victim was handed over to ambulance personnel for further treatment and was subsequently transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Overhaul operations are currently being carried out at the scene. — DayakDaily
