SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia (IBFIM) during the Finance, Economics, and Business Sustainability (FEBS) Conference 2024.
According to UNIMAS’ press statement, the MoU was to establish a framework for collaboration in areas of mutual interest, supporting industry-specific technical certifications and professional development to meet the evolving needs of the financial sector.
In addition to this, UNIMAS also exchanged MoUs with Universitas Tanjungpura (UNTAN) and Emerald Publishing to underline the university’s strategic focus on enhancing the academic and professional growth of its staff, students, and stakeholders by integrating industry engagement with cutting-edge academic research.
The conference which was held on September 18 to 20, themed ‘Inclusive Development for a Sustainable Future’ gathered global thought leaders, academicians, and industry professionals to address critical global challenges while fostering collaborations aimed at advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
With 160 research papers presented, and supported by 13 esteemed partners and 14 academic journals, UNIMAS said that the conference was both an academic forum and a collaborative hub for innovative ideas.
Commenting on the conference, UNIMAS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit pointed out that it was more than just an academic gathering, as it was a catalyst for meaningful change.
“By bridging the gap between academic research and practical, real-world applications, the event aimed to generate tangible solutions for societal and environmental wellbeing.
“Through dialogue, innovation, and partnerships, FEBS helped shape the future landscape of finance, economics, and business sustainability, driving the global agenda for inclusive and sustainable development.
“The collaboration formed and the insights shared during FEBS 2024 have undoubtedly left a lasting impact, positioning the conference as a cornerstone event for thought leadership and transformational change,” he said.
