MIRI (Dec 18): Telang Usan assemblyman Dato Dennis Ngau has urged recipients of Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) allocations to fully utilise the funds within the approved period to ensure timely completion of their projects.
He said allocations should not be kept unused for extended periods, as funds are required to be spent according to the stipulated timeframe.
“The money must be utilised within the approved period. It cannot be kept in an account and only used five years later,” he said during a cheque handover ceremony for Unifor allocations at the Telang Usan Service Centre here.
Dennis emphasised the importance of consensus and cooperation among committee members to ensure the smooth implementation and success of approved projects.
He also reminded recipients to maintain proper records of all expenditures for verification purposes, including the purchase of building materials and payments made to appointed contractors.
“If the allocation received is insufficient, committees may submit applications for additional assistance from Unifor,” he added.
According to him, nearly RM10 million in Unifor funds have been distributed to churches in the Telang Usan constituency to date, although some applications are still pending approval.
At the same ceremony, five churches and a mission school received Unifor grants totalling to more than RM1,032,000, marking the largest allocation for churches and mission schools in the constituency this year.
