JOHOR BAHRU, 5 Oct: Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has accepted 4,506 new full-time undergraduate students for the academic session 2026/2027.
UTM Vice Chancellor Prof Ts Dr Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim said, out of the total, 4,328 local students were enrolled while 178 international students from 20 countries.
"Out of the total, 4,088 students are enrolled at Johor Bahru campus while 418 are enrolled at Kuala Lumpur campus", he said.
He said this to the media after reviewing New UTM Student Registration Day session 2026/2027 at UTM Johor Bahru campus, Skudai on Sunday.
The Faculty of Natural Sciences and Architecture recorded the highest total enrollment at 771 students, followed by the Faculty of Science with 511 students and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering with 503 students.
Meanwhile, two Sarawak girls studying Chemical Engineering, Crysal Belinda Bajan from Serian and Nen Te Zi from Sibu, gave birth to excitement after getting the opportunity to continue their studies at UTM.
Crysal Belinda said that he had indeed put UTM as the first choice when applying through UPU and was grateful when his dream of continuing studies at the university was realized.
Nen Te Zi said the opportunity made her proud of being Sarawak's daughter and she intends to return to the state after completing her studies in order to contribute to the development of Sarawak.
In the meantime, UTM has recorded a graduate marketable rate of 100 percent for three consecutive years, with digital technology, engineering, construction, semiconductor and electricity among the most highly sought-after industries.
To date, UTM has 28,143 students consisting of 21,097 undergraduate students and 7,046 graduate students. - TVS.
