SIBU (March 12): University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) and Timetablehub Technology Sdn Bhd (TTSB) have formalised a strategic partnership through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance digital innovation, software development and industry-linked training.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at UTS yesterday, with the university represented by vice-chancellor Emeritus Professor Datuk Dr Khairuddin Ab Hamid and TTSB by its chief technology officer Muhammad Rafiq Muhammad.
Under the agreement, both parties will establish a non-exclusive framework for cooperation in software development, digital systems and technological innovation.
The collaboration will also include technical cooperation between information technology (IT) teams, staff professional development and industrial training opportunities for students in IT and digital development.
In his speech, Khairuddin said the partnership reflects UTS’ commitment to strengthening industry collaboration while preparing graduates with relevant digital skills.
“This collaboration supports our vision to connect education with industry needs and provides opportunities for staff and students to gain practical experience in digital technology and innovation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Rafiq said TTSB, established in 2007, has provided course and examination timetabling solutions to more than 60 higher education institutions in Malaysia.
He said the company has been working with UTS since 2017 and described the MoU as a new milestone in expanding their collaboration.
“The MoU will further strengthen our partnership with UTS in driving innovation, collaboration and talent development,” he said.
Both parties expressed confidence that the collaboration would support digital transformation initiatives while creating new opportunities for innovation and learning.
