SIBU (March 24): The Persatuan Veteran Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (PVATM) has called on the Sarawak government to consider providing appropriate incentives for retired civil servants with ‘K’ status in the upcoming state budget.
PVATM president Jimbau Galau said it is time greater attention be given to the welfare of retirees in recognition of their contributions and sacrifices during their years of service to the state and nation.
“This is not merely about assistance, but a recognition of the services and sacrifices of those who have served with full dedication,” he said in a statement.
He noted that with the rising cost of living, many retirees are facing financial pressure and require continued support from the government.
Jimbau expressed hope that the state government would study the proposal carefully and consider it in the forthcoming budget.
“Retirees should not be forgotten. They are among the pillars who helped develop the state to what it is today,” he added.
He said introducing incentives for ‘K’ status retirees would not only help ease their burden but also serve as a meaningful gesture of appreciation.
