BAU, Oct 21: An 80-year-old woman was rescued by two villagers from a house fire in Kampung Tringus here last night (Oct 20).
According to a report by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received a distress call about the incident at 10.02pm and despatched firefighters from the Bau Fire Station (BBP) to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-storey non-permanent house measuring approximately 20×40 feet, engulfed in flames.
A Proton Saga vehicle was also completely destroyed.
“Fortunately, the 80-year-old woman, who was alone in the house, was rescued by two villagers before the firefighters arrived,” the report stated.
In addition to the main fire, three nearby houses were affected, with fire damage estimated at no more than 10 per cent each.
The firefighting operation was concluded at 11.45pm. — DayakDaily
