KUCHING, June 30: The Ministry of Works has placed special emphasis on several major infrastructure projects in Sarawak, including the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR), the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak, the Trans Borneo Highway, as well as road, slope and related infrastructure maintenance works across the region, to ensure their smooth and effective implementation.

Highlighting Sarawak’s unique geographical landscape and vast territory, Minister of Works Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said infrastructure development in the region requires meticulous planning, efficient execution and close cooperation among the federal government, the Sarawak government, implementing agencies and local stakeholders.

“The projects are crucial not only for improving connectivity but also for driving economic growth and strengthening logistics networks throughout Sarawak.

“These projects are not merely about building roads. They are about connecting communities, facilitating the movement of people, opening up economic opportunities, strengthening logistics networks and ensuring that development reaches urban, rural and interior areas of Sarawak,” he said in a post shared on his social media today.

He highlighted this when chairing a coordination meeting to review the status of infrastructure projects in Sarawak, particularly those under the ministry’s purview.

The meeting focused on ensuring that ongoing and upcoming projects in Sarawak progress in a more organised, efficient and effective manner while delivering direct benefits to the people.

Nanta also stressed the importance of stronger coordination among all implementing parties to accelerate follow-up actions and address challenges on the ground through an integrated approach.

“Every issue arising during project implementation should be resolved through practical solutions to ensure tangible outcomes for the people.

“The people want to see real results. Therefore, coordination must be strengthened and actions expedited so that challenges can be addressed effectively,” he added.

He expressed confidence that such collaboration would help ensure the successful delivery of strategic infrastructure projects that will enhance connectivity, improve accessibility and support long-term socio-economic development across Sarawak. — DayakDaily
