You need to take advantage of new market opportunities.

MUKAH, 3 Oct: The MUKAH Division should seize new economic opportunities by increasing the value added of local products to penetrate wider markets, including Singapore.

Sarawak Premier, Datuk Seri Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that local produce can be processed and combined with other materials to create new products with higher market value.

"The Mukah people can add value to existing products, including local produce. We can combine it with other materials to make new products and sell them in Singapore.

"Airports and AirBorneo already exist, including AirBorneo's route to Singapore. So we can build a network for an open market", he said when inaugurating the Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) Open Section here today.

According to Abang Johari, the available air connectivity facilities can not only be used to transport passengers, but also open up market access to Sarawak's produce and products.

He said that the local community should take advantage of the opportunities in terms of producing value-added products before they are marketed outside Sarawak.

"If we process products from traditional methods to products with higher market value, we can combine them with other materials to produce new products", he said.
