KUCHING (Oct 21): Joshua Lim Zhi Xing carried his early momentum into the Kelab Golf Sarawak (KGS) Club Championships to score back-to-back victories by lifting the men’s challenge trophy.

Fresh from claiming the Samarahan Country Club Championship title last Sunday, the 15-year-old Form Three student of  Lodge National Secondary School posted a two-day gross total of two-over par 147 (73-74) to win by seven strokes.

Apart from the RM1,800 cash voucher, he will also enjoy a year’s special parking lot, changing room locker and complimentary 10 rounds of 18 holes buggy usage until the end of the year.

Another youngster Aziel Teo Ken Yi was second while Lee Kah Ming took third placing with a 157. Habiib Mushthofa Abu (159) and Choo Kueh Fong (160) were fourth and fifth while defending champion Daniel Yeo Thian Chai ended up in eighth spot with a 164 OCB.

Topping the nett category were Adrian H’ng Chi Chien (139), Dr Teo Eu Gene (141 OCB) and Lim Chea Yi (141).

Magit Semong won the men’s senior crown after he returned a two-day gross total of 161, finishing one stroke ahead of four-time winner Abdul Aziz Sahari. In third to fourth spots were Wee Song Kim (164), Phang Ted Hin (165 OCB) and Michael Lee Joon Kiong (165). Top three in the nett were Richard Sim Kay Hak (140), Chai Chee Kian (144) and Calvin Kong Chak Wan (145).

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Form Four student of St Joseph Private Secondary School Nayomi Sim Lee Ee claimed her first major title by returning a two-day total of 170 to beat seven others for the Ladies crown. The nett winner was Rebecca Sia Siaw Ling who finished with a 146.

Other winners included Shirley Gregory (Invited Guest Ladies nett), KGS club captain Ting Kee Suen (Invited Guest Men gross) and Marvin Chia (Invited Guest Men nett). Marvin walked off with another prize when he was drawn as winner of the top lucky prize of RM500.

Among those who gave away prizes were Sarawak Energy Berhad senior vice president (Human Resources) Dr Mak Met, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam and Ting Kee Suen.

Apart from the golf competition, KGS also organised various activities for Family Fun Day over the two days including food and bargain stalls, exhibition booths, games such as mummia, limbo rock, fun zumba and poco-poco and competitions such as eating, putting, karaoke, fishing, pickleball, colouring, a clown show and a lucky draw.
