Youth reminded to preserve Bau’s multicultural harmony

BAU: Younger generations must continue learning about and respecting the traditions of other communities to preserve Bau’s long-standing multicultural harmony.

Deputy Transport Minister (Riverine and Maritime), Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said Bau’s diversity in ethnicity, religion and culture remained one of the community’s greatest strengths.

He said celebrations such as the Mid-Autumn Festival provided an opportunity for young people to better understand the traditions of communities around them and develop greater respect for cultural diversity.

“This is what makes Bau special. We have different ethnicities, religions and cultures, yet we can live together, respect one another and celebrate each other’s festivals,” he said at the Mid-Autumn Festival celebration at SJK Chung Hua Bau on Friday (Sept 26).

He said the culture of mutual understanding and respect must continue to be nurtured among the younger generation, as cultural diversity formed an important part of Bau’s heritage.

The celebration, themed ‘Family Reunion, Abundant Grace’, also carried a message of family values, togetherness and gratitude.

“Tonight, we are not only gathering as families, but also as one big Bau family,” he said.

Henry, who is also a Tasik Biru assemblyman, urged the community to continue safeguarding the unity and harmony that had long characterised Bau.

“We may have different cultures, but we are one family. May tonight’s celebration bring joy to all families, strengthen our relationships and bring abundant blessings to the entire community,” he said.
