KUCHING, Oct 10: Youth need to expand their knowledge and master new skills in order to improve self-quality and prepare themselves for the challenges of the world of work.

Deputy Minister in Sarawak's Premier Department (Laws, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali said that young people should prioritize education over social wants which do not contribute to their future success.

He believes that education is among the key to life-changing and improving well-being.

Thus, he advised youths to focus on learning, practice discipline and follow the advice of parents and teachers to ensure their continued success.

"We must focus and learn exactly like Grandfather Amar Fadillah Yusof said that religion is important. We must base our lives on secondary teachings and religions, we must study hard for our own youth who must, our own efforts to study hard, not love so strongly in the school can.

"Don't play video games too much and we have to hear parents say that it's important to listen to parents, listen to teachers in schools and disciplines, all of this is important so that young people can keep going, we can keep learning, and we can continue to succeed in life", he said.

He said this while addressing the "Ready to Face the Future" Motivational Program and Special Dialogue Session with YB and Deputy Prime Minister (TPM) in Kuching, on Saturday.

Sharifah Hasidah said that the implementation of Sarawak Free Higher Education Scheme (FTES) at Sarawak government-owned universities aims to ensure equal opportunities for young people to pursue higher education.

He says that the opportunity can help young people to get jobs that match their qualifications and offer good income.

He said that the Sarawak government is constantly working to ensure that youth are able to meet the needs of industrial labour in the state, thus contributing to faster and more sustainable development of Sarawak.

In addition, in addition to academic education, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) also provides a rewarding career path for the future of Sarawak's youth.
