MUKAH, 3 Oct: A total of 10 students from the Open Division received an offer to study at the Sarawak International Secondary School Foundation (YSISS), Sibu, through the educational initiative of the Government of Sarawak.
Of that number, six students are in Year 7, while four more are in Year 8.
The symbolic presentation of the offer was perfected by Sarawak Premier, His Highness Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, at the Sarawak My Dear 2026 Expedition Programme Opening Day, here today.
YSISS is among the efforts of the Government of Sarawak to provide access to international education based on the Cambridge International curriculum, thereby providing opportunities for students in this state to pursue competitive education at a global level.
For each selected student, the total funding over a five-year period is RM115,000, covering tuition fees, textbooks, hostel accommodation, food and learning facilities.
At the same ceremony, Brother Johari also delivered assistance of Sarawak Basic Needs Donation (SKAS) to 10 recipients, consisting of two gold citizens, five households and three single people.
The aid was intended to alleviate the burden on those in need.
In addition, 10 recipients also received assistance through Sarawak Free Higher Education Scheme (FTES).
FTES is among the initiatives of the Government of Sarawak to expand access to higher education and help Sarawak children get further education opportunities.
