SIBU, 3 Oct: Two dead and another slightly injured in a two-vehicle crash on Dudong Road, Kanowit-Julian today.
The accident at about 4:15 p.m. involved a Perodua Bezza and a Mitsubishi Triton, with a total of seven casualties.
Two victims in Perodua Bezza, a 52-year-old man and 49-year-old woman, were confirmed dead by the Malaysian Ministry of Health (MoH).
According to the Centre for Operational Movements (PGO) of the Malaysian Department of Bombs and Rescuers (JBPM) Sarawak, a bomb squad from the Sibu Jaya Bombs and Rescue Hall (BBP) removed both victims who were crushed and unconscious using locks and rescue equipment.
"Meanwhile, the five victims in the Mitsubishi Triton consisted of two adults and three children, with a 33-year-old woman suffering minor injuries.
"Four more victims, including a 45-year-old man and three children between the ages of four and 10, were reported to be alive", the statement said.
The injured victim received early treatment from the KKM team at the scene, while two of the deceased victims were handed over to police for further action.
The operation involved six members of BBP Sibu Jaya with an FRT machine and ended at 5.59 pm after the situation on site was confirmed to be safe.
