KUCHING (July 7): Ten-year-old singer Taylor Louise from Kuching has made Sarawak and Malaysia proud by winning a gold medal in the recently-concluded 27th World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA).

She achieved first place in the WCOPA Open Category for ages 8-10 years old, and she was also crowned the 2024 WCOPA Junior Division Champion for the Open Category during the competition held at Long Beach, United States of America.

Sharing her joy in a Facebook post, Taylor expressed her gratitude to her parents, family, coach and friends for their love and support during her preparation for the competition.

“I am speechless and thankful to God for His love and guidance. Guys, I really won a Gold medal for Sarawak and Malaysia. Yay!

“This is an amazing news for me and it will motivate me to do better next times. I have learnt so much and I know I have so much room to improve in terms of my vocal and performance on stage.

“What a wonderful day of my life as the youngest Malaysia team’s vocal contestant aged 10 years old Kuching girl who loves singing and eat wanton,” she said.

She also thanked her supporters, emphasising their role as pillars of strength and encouragement.

“I love you all and thank you for being the pillar of my strengths and support. Without you all, I would not have gone this far. Today’s gold medal is for all of you. I love you all and thank you for your prayers,” she said.
